West Coast Pilots has identified safety, Terminal infrastructure and the environment as the key areas, in its sphere of operations, which are of paramount importance and need to be effectively controlled to prevent unnecessary injury, loss of life, damage to health, property and degradation of the environment.

The Company makes every effort to provide a safe and healthy workplace for all its personnel and commit to the continual improvement of the system, aspiring to a goal of zero harm to its personnel. To meet this requirement, the Pilot Company’s Quality, including Safety, Management System is designed to ensure the Company’s activities are sufficiently controlled to protect personnel, property and the environment from all hazards and risks that can be reasonably expected.

WCP has operated under a quality management system since its inception and now operates under an integrated quality, health and safety management system to the standard ISO 9001:2008 which includes HSE policy that is based on the Australian standard for safety AS/NZ 4801:2001. West Coast Pilots has developed an extensive suit of documents and systems covering all aspects of the pilotage operation, including the master pilot exchange, passage planning, incident reporting and port specific handbooks. The company is proud of its safety culture and record, which it has built over many years.
